Carmel Creek and Solana Pacific are joining hands to host the 2023 Heritage Festival and celebrate the global diversity that exists within our school community on APRIL 13, 2023, 4:00 - 6:00pm.
Why?
It encourages both students and their parents to share their culture, cuisine, traditional attire, traditions and customs with one another in a fun and engaging manner.
It helps us to learn and have better understanding and appreciation of other cultures and traditions that could be very different to our own.
Would you like to host a Heritage Booth?
Here are some general guidelines:
Have a decorated table that includes an ethnic table cover in fabric or paper
Use a large poster or tri-fold board with a map of the country your culture represents - its geographical location on the world map, languages spoken, currency, flag, etc
Describe a variety of traditional art & crafts, music, instruments, dance, festivals, local games and sports
Display artifacts - anything interesting and special to your culture
Samples of food from your cultural cuisine - the PTO will provide paper cups, spoons, forks and napkins
Have a stamp with your country name or flag for the passports
Send us 2-3 songs from your country
Parade - dress your children in traditional attire
Traditional performance! Up to 5 minutes with at least 3 or more Solana Beach students.
